A poem from Margery Parsons

If the Earth…

If the earth was grieving

would rivers overflow

like eyes would mountains heave

like shoulders would trees make sounds

like cries would the ground tremble

like hands would waves double over

as in pain —if the earth

was bowed down

with too much suffering?

  1. Beautiful.

    Sometimes
I want it to do just that.
    I want to stand,
drenched in the tears of rivers
and then slop my way into a gig,
    pick up a microphone
that explodes in my hands and share tears
that are so much bigger than the ears that don’t hear them.
