Nomad
You shed your persona
like a snake skin,
rebirth
is your way of escape.
When your house
becomes cluttered,
you close the door,
without locking it
and walk away,
in broad daylight,
beaming
your confident smile.
Months later, a postcard
from an unexpected place:
I found home,
I found my tribe
and you give yourself completely,
to new tribe and new cause
with abandon
like no one else I know.
But sooner or later,
your baggage arrives,
forwarded
from the last address.
As the packages pile up
and old ghosts
catch up with you,
you grow restless,
and you’ll be on the road again,
running towards the unknown,
driven by a hunger
I cannot understand.
